Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire

Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire

Oh man. I have to say, I am pretty happy with what just went in my mouth. There is the slight hint of Jack Daniels that keeps it from tasting like a drinkable Big Red. Not that I am against that, as stated in my previous cinnamon death match. I like spicy cinnamon but the taste of something else gives this a little more depth than you you expect. I won’t say they go hand in hand, but they do work together. I rate it a CHUG, especially if you’re a fan of that specific Jack Daniels flavor. 70 Proof

Crown Royal Regal Apple

This post stared as most of my posts do, all thanks to the grumpy ABC lady. She often probes my weakness for booze by offering whatever new mini bottles they have at the moment. I realistically did not hold great hope for an apple flavored whiskey.

It turns out my fears were unfounded. The initial hit of slightly sour apple flavoring really mingles well with the whiskey finish. The caramel and vanilla notes really play well with the apple and while the apple is very overwhelming and artificial it somehow works if you like that sort of apple flavor. I can’t help thinking this would work really well with a cinnamon chaser or mixed into apple cider? Either way it is perfect for this season and I rate it a decided CHUG!

Paddy Bee Sting / Paddy Devil’s Apple

Paddy Whiskey

These products are my first press samples. How exciting! I’m not quite sure if this is a good development or bad. Free booze is always fun, but doesn’t it taste just a little sweeter? In any case, I would’ve been ecstatic about both of these even if I had shelled out my own hard earned cash. They are both scrumptious and dangerously delicious. And can I say, I LOVE the bottles? Old-timey chic is a thing, right?

Paddy Bee Sting (70prf) – This is my favorite but in that very slight way you might favor one of your children over the other. It is deliciously honey flavored without being fake or overly sweet. The whiskey is there too, don’t you worry. Dear Jack Daniels, this is honey whiskey done right.

Paddy Devil’s Apple (70prf) – Devil’s Apple has a spicy, cider-esque flavor that is pure fall and America. There’s enough whiskey to flavor, but not overpower. I love this shit.

Both of these are some of my favorite new drinks I’ve tried recently. If you are looking for some new whiskey inspired drinks, I give these two cheers. And say CHUG!

This product was a free press sample. This does not in any way affect my review of this product. If you would like to see your liquor reviewed by this blog email me at liquorlunch@gmail.com

Wild Turkey Spiced Whiskey / Red Stag Honey Tea

13 Oct

Wild Turkey Spiced and Red Stag Honey Tea

Wild Turkey Spiced Whiskey (86prf) – The spices were very mild. I was expecting a more Captian Morgan-esque spicing but some find that overpowering so I guess I may understand the decision to take a lighter hand. If you like straight whiskey, this may be something you love. If you don’t the spices won’t be enough to win you over. CHUG for whiskey lovers.

Jim Beam Red Stag Honey Tea (80prf) – This whiskey was very sweet and syrupy but I won’t hold that against it. The honey and whiskey came through much more so than the tea, but everything meshed well together and was a much better offering from Red Stag than I had previously reviewed. CHUG

Cinerator / Kinky Blue / Dewar’s Highlander Honey

Cinerator / Kinky/ Dewars

Cinerator Whiskey (91.1 proof) – The cinnamon flavor is very in your face, but the whiskey flavor was mellow and melded nicely without taking a complete back seat. Considering the alcohol content that’s fairly surprising … I find myself wondering how this would have fared in my cinnamon death match.

Kinky Blue (34 proof) – Kind of tart and sour, this almost reminds me of those delicious blue Blow Pops I’d eat as a kid. And only a kid. Because no grown adult went to Fizzy’s and bought $20 worth of candy today after going to the ABC store. Nope. Anyways, this is low proof, but I love the artificial sour berry flavor. I’m not guaranteeing anyone else will.

Dewar’s Highlander Honey (80 proof) – Oh God. This is what honey abandoned for 10 years in a dirty sock would taste like. There’s also a weird liquid smoke flavor. I’m considering not drinking the rest of the mini. Yeah right.

Southern Comfort Bold Black Cherry

6 Aug

This was also brought this by my roommate, so I guess it really was a message to stop, drop, and review. I know that I’ve had SoCo before, but I was probably really drunk and have no idea what it tastes like. Nonetheless I was excited by this because shits got booze, son.

I threw this back and immediately grinned. It was whiskey with a delicious cherry taste which was exactly like cherry cough syrup. That may sound like a bad thing, but for some reason it’s not. I mean people drink the fuck out of Jager and that shit tastes like liquorice cough syrup and is the most disgusting booze known to man. And I don’t know if I’d want to drink SoCo Cherry all night or anything, but I guess the little kid in me likes the idea of drinking whiskey flavored cherry cough syrup and not getting in trouble. What to mix with this? Cherry Robitussin. Just kidding, I have no fucking clue. I recommend this for simple, straight shots.
